Financial Resilience Specialist and Lead for Africa at NIRAS

Anthony is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Commercial Law. Anthony is the current Chairman of the Research and Development Panel for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Vice Chair of the Thought Leadership Committee of CIMA and immediate past Chair, African Regional Board of CIMA.

Anthony is currently the lead for Africa and the financial resilience specialist for the evaluations of the Ford Foundation African Building Institutions and Networks (BUILD) initiative. BUILD is a five-year, $1 billion investment in the long-term capacity and sustainability of up to 300 social justice organisations around the world. Anthony’s main role is to provide leadership for the African cohort of the evaluations mostly in East and West Africa. This includes leading on contacts with all three Ford Foundation offices in Africa as well as conducting case studies on financial resilience of the cohorts in the region.

Anthony has provided various institutional strengthening initiatives including:

1. Assisting GPSDD (united Nations Foundation) in developing and implementing a strategic costing system.
2. Strategic Positioning and Emerging Costing Principles Workshop in Kampala, Uganda. The main goal was to enable think tanks and other research institutions strategically position their organisations as well as improve on their costing and budgeting practices to help to achieve financial sustainability.
3. Business Models Workshop for Think Tank Sustainability in Africa. The main goal was to strengthen the capacity of policy analysis institutions to ensure that they are able to successfully develop an effective and suitable business model to help them adapt to their changing environments and address move towards sustainability challenges.
