Director of REDElcano, Elcano Royal Institute
Áurea Moltó has been the Director of REDElcano since September 2023. With over 20 years of experience in international relations, she specializes in Spanish foreign policy, Latin America, security, and defence. She began her professional career at the EFE News Agency. She served as the director of Política Exterior magazine, where she led its digital transformation into a multi-platform publication and expanded its network of contributors across Europe, the United States, and Latin America. She has been a senior visiting fellow at The Inter-American Dialogue (Washington, DC) and an advisor at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation.
She holds a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and a diploma in Advanced Defense Studies from the Spanish National Defense Studies Center (CESEDEN, Ministry of Defense). She completed postgraduate studies in the Contemporary Latin America program at the Ortega y Gasset University Institute. Áurea is a member of the board of directors of Transparency International Spain and a fellow of ASPEN Spain. She is a regular contributor to Spanish and international media outlets.
