Associate Director and Instructor, Center for Global Studies (CGS) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Donna C. Tonini is the Associate Director at the Center for Global Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is also an Instructor in the Global Studies Graduate Minor Programme, teaching Global Society, GLBL 500. She holds an Ed.D. in International Educational Development with a Finance & Planning specialisation from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her doctoral research in Tanzania identified barriers to entry to secondary school and evaluated how educational policy in Tanzania addressed those barriers and impacted enrolment growth. Dr Tonini has also worked on development projects in Uganda and the Caribbean and conducted research on education in Singapore and the U.S. Pending Board of Trustees approval, the Center for Global Studies is planning on launching a new Master of Science in Global Studies in Spring 2026, and Dr Tonini is interested in developing new courses in global governance and policy, and policy-related internships for students.
