Inaugural Research Fellow - MyPACK
Jaivet Ealom serves as the Inaugural Research Fellow of the Myanmar Policy and Community Knowledge Hub (MyPACK) and as Secretary General of the Rohingya Consultative Council (RCC), based in Southeast Asia and headquartered in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. He leads the RCC’s engagement with Rohingya actors, coordinating policy, representation, and diaspora outreach. He is also the CEO and Co-Founder of the Rohingya Centre of Canada, guiding its transition into a federally registered charity with early multi-year government funding. He is widely known for his acclaimed memoir Escape from Manus Island, which recounts his experience as a Rohingya refugee navigating displacement, detention, and asylum. Jaivet’s previous work includes political research at the University of Toronto and global crisis-relief partnerships at NeedsList. He advises the Refugee Advisory Network of Canada and has represented Canada at the UN and global refugee forums.
