Funding models

Funding think tanks is more complex than simply diversifying revenue. In this session with Enrique Mendizabal, we explore the global landscape of think tank financing — from regional disparities in funding sources to the organisational competencies needed to sustain a resilient funding model. We examine different income streams and funding sources, weighing their advantages and trade-offs. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises to map potential funders for their own context and identify concrete steps to activate them. By the end of the session, we expect participants to have a clearer understanding of what a funding model and strategy look like in practice, and how to begin building one suited to their organisation’s mission and circumstances.
