In this module, participants will reflect on how organisations undertake monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL),  how to enhance current practices, and share reflections and cutting edge conceptual knowledge as well as specific MEL methodologies and tools.

This module offers a comprehensive introduction to funding models, which allow think tanks to create a reliable revenue base that supports its core programmes and services. In it, participants will also reflect on financial management issues, and review different mechanisms and sources.

Without good communications, an organisation’s work will achieve nothing. In this module, participants will review the components that make up a solid communications operations, review the elements of a communication strategy, and undertake a branding workshop

Through the School, we will have several sessions in which we will discuss crosscutting issues through live sessions or workshops.

Policy relevant research is one of the cornerstones of a think tanks’ work. This module presents a set of principles for policy-relevant research, discusses how to balance independence, relevant and funding issues, and offers an approach to understanding policy problems.

This is an elusive issue in think tank practice. In this module, we will provide an overview of the terms governance and management, explain the importance of boards and the different types that exist, discuss management and leadership issues, and explore the governance and management arrangements of a particular think tank model. These discussions can be the cornerstone to long-term success for a think tank.

This module provides an introduction to think tanks, discussing their elusive definition and functions. It also provides an overview of evidence-informed policymaking and the role of think tanks in it.
